I grew up in a Swedish town in Iowa, USA. We celebrated Santa Lucía every year. Learned songs in Swedish, wore traditional dress and performed Swedish dances. It’s so beautiful to see this and remember the feelings from when I was young. This time of year I am very far from home and anything that resembles the tradition. You are an artist and a light in the darkness Jonna. I’m thankful for you.

My husband’s mother is 100% Swedish (her parents migrated to this country) and that is how we learned of St. Lucia. She also made this wonderful Swedish Christmas bread called Yulekaka (I think that is how it is spelled), somewhat similar to fruitcake but much, much better! Have you ever attempted to make it? Perhaps one of these days I will try, as it is very hard to find in America. Anyway, thank you for making this film.
